Enactment in sign languages

How do signers use enactment to depict and index people and other referents? Why do we use this strategy? We analysed narratives and conversations in the Auslan Corpus and BSL Corpus to find out. We compared how Auslan signers and Matukar Panau speakers use enactment. We also considered the role of enactment in language theory and linguistic typology.
